You can take a short hike with great views of mountains and Meadows/pastures. Or be more adventurous & hook up with the Appalachian trail. Day parking/entry is $5 or something in that ball park. It's a super great value. Awesome.
This is a good park if you want a nice view. I recommend this park if Shenandoah gets too expensive (they may raise price to $70). This is similar to Shenandoah nice view but you have to walk up a big hill. I saw a bear here twice so far, and a wolf one time. You can walk along a section of the Appalachian trail if you are motivated to walk a but more than average (it takes about 2 miles up hill at least to get to it). Sometimes they have the strawberry festival and it costs more to get in then.
A great state park with well marked hiking trails and regularly scheduled events, like astronomy night. Camping is also available. It’s near local wineries. A great venue when looking to spend time outdoors but don’t want to drive to Shenandoah National Park.
The park is gorgeous! So many places to explore, hike, bike and see. We went for a little festival and it was great. The kids had a lot of fun and we got to stroll around and take it all the awesome views. We got some pumpkins to carve. The kids loved the caterpillar races. The BBQ they had there was amazing!! Definitely will take the ride out there again
The views here are amazing. We were lucky enough to visit on a weekend where they had reenactments throughout the property and they were very entertaining. We were able to tour the historical home and learn about the old time ways of life. Very relaxing and peaceful.
